Job Responsibilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the project/work site, ensuring safety standards are followed and quality work is being performed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures safety of employees.
  • Performs daily walkthroughs of project/work site to confirm availability and use of proper materials and tools; recognizes and promptly addresses issues so that work continues on schedule.
  • Resolves problems and coordinates activities for the job through collaboration and communication with other management or technical staff and contractors.
  • Responsible for all paperwork to and from office, including timesheets for employees.
  • Performs customer relations on site with client.
  • Communicates material orders with office as required.
  • Communicates with management and other job-related individuals as required and on a regular basis.
  • Maintains jobsite tools inventory.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Thorough understanding of heavy/highway construction trades.
  • Experience in the safe and proper operation and use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy/highway construction.
  • Certified in traffic control and set up of work zones.
  • Maintain valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to calculate areas and quantities.
  • Ability to work with grades.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to read blueprints and other reports outlining specifications.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal and management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong delegation and problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least five years of related experience is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to traverse worksite in different types of weather and bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to make inspections.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Frequent, overnight/out-of-town travel may be required.
