John Demartino Serves
on Marcellus Shale Panel
John M. DeMartino, one of the partners of E. J. Breneman, was a member of the panel discussing the economic potential of the Marcellus Shale for the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce & Industry's Grassroots Issues Series. This forum, which was attended by 105 Chamber members, was held on November 14th at The Inn at Reading. The forum discussed how the Marcellus shale not only impacted the gas industry, but created jobs in many different fields from environmental firms to bed and breakfasts. Patrick Henderson, energy executive from Gov. Tom Corbett's office, said over 92,000 new jobs have been created so far.
John told the group that E. J. Breneman became involved in Marcellus shale projects last year. He said, "We've been able to double our work force in working on projects to rebuild the roads after they are torn up from the drilling process." John also told them that, "although the company has been involved in road stabilization, future work could mean getting involved building the pad sites." John also mentioned that the company has been able to hire local people to help with the Marcellus shale work.
